That corridor has a weather history most roofing contractors elsewhere in Texas don't have to plan around. Hurricane Ike made landfall as a strong Category 2 storm in September 2008, and its wind field stretched far enough inland to tear shingles off roofs, shatter windows, and uproot mature trees across north Harris County neighborhoods, leaving an estimated 25 million cubic yards of debris regionwide. Sixteen years later, in May 2024, a derecho tore through the same corridor with straight-line winds topping 100 mph, stripping shingles and toppling transmission towers. Wind storms don't stop at roofs.
