Grimes County commissioners approved a reinvestment zone and a full tax abatement in June 2026. The move clears the way for SpaceX's proposed Terafab semiconductor plant near the Gibbons Creek Reservoir. A Texas A&M Private Enterprise Research Center report projects the county's tax base could grow by as much as 500 percent.
